Dear Parents and/or Guardians of PVIS students,

Happy Halloween!! We are now ¼ of the way through the 2017-18 school year. This doesn’t seem possible that we are already in the month of November, yet here we are! I am very proud of what we (students and teachers) have accomplished thus far.

We have already had one student graduate, with at least three more set to do so very soon. We have had a total of 23 students complete at least one class already this year as well, so there are a lot of cool things going on at PVIS this year. This all brings me to my point. These are important dates that need to be remembered:

1. Friday, November 3 – Report cards go home (there will also be other very important items in this packet that will require a parent/guardian signature)

2. Thursday, November 9 – School wide mock evacuation drill. I will send home more information about this at the beginning of next week but let me give you the highlights:

a. We will evacuate the school due to a mock train derailment.

b. All Murray County EMS agencies are participating in this as well (it is going to be a big deal)!

c. We will evacuate all teachers and students to the Murray County Recreation Center on Hyden Tyler Rd.

d. Students who have earned the most LiveSchool points (with the least amount of infractions) will be allowed to serve as volunteer triage patients at the rec center.

e. We would like 10-20 parents to volunteer for various roles as well. If you are interested please call me or Ginger Parker at 706-517-5355. Some parents will be needed to pick their kids up at the rec to simulate the reunification protocols. We would also like to have some (2-3) parents agree to be transported by ambulance to Murray Medical so the hospital can practice their intake procedures for mass injuries.

3. Friday November 10 – Veteran’s Day – No School

4. There is also an additional special opportunity that is scheduled for Tuesday November 14, that hopefully comes to fruition. More information to follow!!
